I prefer cassette tools with a guide pin for the extra security that gives. Park makes the FR-5.2G for 5mm quick release wheels, and the FR-5.2GT for wheels with a 12mm thru-axle. Why carry two tools for two different axle types when you can keep this adapter in place for the 12mm axles, then pull it off for the 5mm QR axles?
Works on any cassette tool with a 5mm guide pin. I've been using it on my Park FR-5.2G for years now, and I have another on a Shimano Pro PRTLB092 cassette tool in my travel toolbox.
If you've got a cassette tool without a guide pin, such as the Abbey Crombie, this won't help you at all.
