Spoke nipple shuffler used in wheel building. Drop in a handful of spoke nipples and give it a shake, and they'll fall into the slots and orient heads-up, ready for grabbing with a speed tool like the excellent EVT Mulfinger.
Note - if you are interested in the gold without the lid, let me know if you would like a lid that is not a color match. I've got a couple lids without homes that I could include, but they're not gold.
