FlipDAG instructions

The FlipDAG replaces the metal slider on the DAG-1 and DAG-2 with an adjustable slider that allows the indicator to flip up out of the way. This allows you to clear the seatstay and chainstay to take measurements inside the rear triangle quickly and accurately.

The FlipDAG has two major parts, the slider (that mounts on the shaft of the DAG) and the indicator holder. The stock indicator is transferred over and goes into the indicator hole, and the reading can be fixed with the indicator fixing screw. This way you know it hasn’t moved when you flip it up.

Due to the differences in the different generations of the DAG-1 and DAG-2, the slider is adjustable for tension. This needs to be performed at installation, or it won’t fit properly.

Installation

1. Start by removing the indicator from your DAG slider. Unscrew the black knob until the indicator is loose, then remove it. You’ll reuse the indicator.

2. Slide the original slider off the end of the DAG shaft. You may have to remove the plastic plug at the end of the shaft.

3. With the head of the DAG to your right and the handle pointing to the left, orient the FlipDAG so that the indicator holder is facing towards you. Slide the FlipDAG onto the DAG shaft.
   Note that installing it this way allows the indicator to flip towards the center of the wheel, tires that are larger than the rim.

4. Flip the indicator holder into the “up” position so the slider tension adjustment hole is along the middle of the shaft. This lines it up with the slider tension screw.
5. Use a 2.5mm hex key to adjust the tension between the slider and the DAG shaft. Too loose, it won’t stay in place. Too tight, you won’t be able to move it.
   Small adjustments make a big difference here, so go slowly!
   
   

6. Once the tension is set, put the indicator into the indicator hole, and lightly tighten the indicator fixing screw to hold it in place.
   Yes, this has a 4mm hex, but you should never need that. It only takes light finger tightness to hold the indicator in place.
   
   

7. Check the rotation of the indicator holder. Adjust it with a 3mm hex key on the screw at the center of the indicator holder. Again, small adjustments can make a big difference.
