The stepped end of the tool that lines up with the end of the freehub indicates the length of the freehub.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShimano freehubs are marked 10 or 11 speed, although 10 speed will fit 8, 9, and 10 speed, as well as large road 11 speed cassettes (such as the 11-34 11 speed Ultegra or 105) as well as 11 speed MTB cassettes. The longer 11 speed road is 1.85mm longer and mounts 11 and 12 speed road cassettes.
