If you watch coverage, you'll often see a commissaire checking tire widths as the riders are called up. The tool drops onto the tire, and if it does, it's legal. If it doesn't, it's not legal. This tool serves that function if you have to be concerned about being UCI legal.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePlease note! The UCI makes a similar tool available on their 3D printing repository, but that tool has a 34mm inner width, which is listed as 33mm plus 1mm tolerance. I have spoken with several pro mechanics and unsurprisingly the UCI communication on this isn't exactly clear, so we have decided that the best approach is to stick with the original 33mm inner width. Please let me know if you would prefer the design with the additional 1mm tolerance, but know that if the commissaire has one with a 33mm internal and says you don't pass, then you don't pass.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eUSA Cycling has also come up with new rules that certain classes (masters, juniors, etc) can have relaxed regulations, which I've seen referred to as \"UCI Lite\" which allows for tires up to 38mm. Thanks to a request from a customer, I've added these \"UCI Lite\" 38mm gauges to the listing. Not only are they marked 38mm, they are overall bigger (obviously) and I have also included a notch in the outside so you can quickly tell the two sizes apart. You could also choose different colors for the two sizes which would be the easiest way to tell them apart.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eNOTE: It's up to you to know what regulations you'll be subject to, and although I can certify that these gauges are the marked width, I can't guarantee that if your tires pass with these, the officials will agree.
